Today. Walt Disney officially announced that the long-awaited Kingdom Hearts video game franchise will finally be getting an animated adaptation. During Disney’s D23 presentation, the studio revealed that Kingdom Hearts is finally coming as a series to Disney+. The series will be in collaboration with the video game company Square Enix. The series was described as “reimagines the iconic adventure with a brand-new story that will expand on the universe of ‘Kingdom Hearts’ while celebrating the characters that have captured the hearts of millions of fans around the world,” Fans have been asking for an adaptation since the early days of the PlayStation 2 game, but never thought it would be a reality. Kingdom Hearts was a turn-based video game like Final Fantasy but included many Disney characters, like Goofy and Mickey Mouse.
