Cloak & Dagger was a Marvel Television series that ran for two seasons on Freeform before becoming available on streaming on Hulu and Disney+. The series starred Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph as the teenage heroes Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson. The series wasn’t awful, scoring 87% on Rotten Tomatoes, but it was ultimately canceled in 2019 (via The Hollywood Reporter). The duo did make a surprise cameo appearance on the other Marvel teen series, The Runaways, before hanging up the tights and cloak for good.

However, earlier this year, Marvel Television released the highly praised series, Wonder Man. During the flashback episode four, we are introduced to the character, The Doorman. He is an actor/hero who, after being exposed to some dark goo by the Roxxon Corporation, was able to create a wormhole in his body into the Darkforce Dimension. This is the same way that Tyrone Johnson is able to teleport with his mystical cloak. However, it’s also unstable, and Josh Gad is hilariously stuck in it right now.

Just yesterday, it was officially confirmed that Mike Colter will return as Luke Cage in Daredevil: Born Again season 3. Mike Colter and Finn Jones have long wanted to return as Luke Cage and Iron Fist if Marvel Television ever wanted them following their Netflix show cancellations. However, many don’t know that Cloak & Dagger had two direct easter eggs to Luke Cage in their show. Detective Brigid O’Reilly (played by Emma Lahana) transferred from the NYPD’s Harlem’s 29th Precinct to the New Orleans Police Department. There is also a scene in which Ty reads a newspaper article about Luke Cage and his vigilanteism in Harlem in season 2 (via YouTube). This ultimately inspires him to embrace his powers as Cloak, even though he was originally apprehensive. With all these street-level heroes returning for Daredevil: Born Again, is Cloak & Dagger next? It would be simple to make their series canon, since the entire show takes place in New Orleans rather than New York City.
Cloak & Dagger is streaming now on Hulu & Disney+
