Today, a report announced that Andy Serkis is set to return as Alfred Pennyworth in Matt Reeves’ The Batman: Part II. It seems pretty obvious, as most of the original cast are returning in some capacity. However, it was unknown if Serkis was able to make it work due to his commitments to The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. He is set to both star and direct the Tolkien epic, which starts filming next month in New Zealand. Nevertheless, Warner Brothers and New Line Cinema were able to make it work, and Serkis will join the Batman cast later this year to film his scenes. He joins Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, Sebatstain Stan as Harvey Dent, and Scarlett Johansson as Gilda Dent.
The Batman: Part II is currently slated to hit theaters on October 1st, 2027
