Today, DC Studios co-head James Gunn officially announced that German actor Lars Eidinger had been cast as the supervillain Brainiac in Man of Tomorrow. The upcoming Superman sequel has long teased that Brainiac would be the villain, even though James Gunn refused to acknowledge the rumor. Matt Smith was also in the running for the role, but was not ultimately cast. David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult, and Rachel Brosnahan will all return as Superman, Lex Luthor, and Lois Lane for the film. Production begins in April 2026.
