Today, a report confirmed that Matt and Ross Duffer will be leaving Netflix for a 4-year first-look deal at Paramount Pictures. The duo is best known for creating Stranger Things for the last decade at the streaming service. Stranger Things became an immediate smash hit and spawned many spin-offs, including a stage play and an upcoming animated series. The duo, however, wanted to move into feature films, something Netflix would not budge on. Instead, Paramount Pictures promised the two they would get both TV shows and movies for their studio if they decided to move on from Netflix. Their current deal with Netflix will expire in April 2026 under their production banner Upside Down Pictures. This is the first major creative signing after the merger between Paramount Global and Skydance.

The final season of Stranger Things debuts this winter on Netflix
