Today, HBO announced that a third season of The Last of Us has already been green lit ahead of the season 2 premiere. This is unsurprising as the second season already has 92% on Rotten Tomatoes. The first season follows the complete first game, but the second game in the acclaimed video game series would always be split into multiple seasons. HBO executive Francesca Orsi already suggested to Deadline the show will run around 4 seasons, “I wouldn’t want to confirm that, but it’s looking like this season and then two more seasons after this, and we’re done.” It’s currently unknown when the third season will go into production. Bella Ramsey and Kaitlyn Dever are expected to return.

The Last of Us returns to HBO & Max on April 13th
