Today, a report announced that the director, Greta Gerwig, is looking at British singer Charli XCX for a significant role in her upcoming Chronicles of Narnia feature film. While the film name is being kept under wraps, the report states this role could be for Jadis, The White Witch. The singer has not officially signed onto the project.
In the novel and BBC adaptation, the White Witch has raven-black hair compared to the blonde Disney version. This report also leads many to assume the movie will adopt The Magician’s Nephew, not The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. This novel has yet to be adapted and is a prequel to how the White Witch takes over Narnia in the first novel. Production is expected to begin in the UK later this year.
