Today, a report announced that Netflix is considering Academy Award-winning actress Meryl Streep for its upcoming Chronicles of Narnia movie. She hasn’t signed on yet, but she is being courted to voice Aslan in this new film. The latest film has gender-swapped the character from a typically male-voiced lion to a female one. Many fans had hoped Liam Neeson would return to voice the character from the previous Disney films, but that was never considered. Director Greta Gerwig’s films, like Lady Bird and Barbie, have always been about female empowerment, and, unsurprisingly, she would make this change. Production begins later this year in the UK.
The Chronicles of Narnia is slated to hit theaters Thanksgiving 2026 in IMAX
