Netflix has been in production on Avatar: The Last Airbender season 2 since October 2024. They have been filming back in Vancouver, Canada, on-location compared to season one’s use of The Volume. We at Knight Edge Media have learned that the list of directors working on the sophomore season only has one season 1 returning director, Jabbar Rasaini.

The list of directors will celebrate many South Asian directors like Jabbar Raisani (Lost in Space) as well as newly announced directors Anu Menon (The Day of the Jackal), Amit Gupta (His Dark Materials), and East Asain director Hiromi Kamata (Monarch, Shogun). Each director is expected to direct in two episode blocks, which means the second season could still be 8 episodes unless one director directs one episode. The episode count has yet to be confirmed. Production will run through March 21st back in Vancouver. It’s unknown which of these directors will return for season 3.

Avatar: The Last Airbender will return exclusively to Netflix
