Shortly after the novel was announced, Lionsgate also announced that a feature film based on it was also in the works. Director Francis Lawrence is in talks to direct the film, with Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson returning to produce for the studio. Lawrence directed both Catching Fire and Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2 in the original film saga. He also returned to direct last year’s prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, based on the prequel novel about young President Snow (originally played by Tom Blyth).

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping hits theaters on November 20th, 2026
