Today, director Gareth Edwards entered talks to take over directing the upcoming Jurassic World sequel. This comes off the news that talks broke down between Universal Pictures and previous director David Leitch (via Deadline). Leitch had a different vision for the upcoming sequel than what the studio had in mind. Edwards, however, was always going to be an upgrade after last year’s The Creator. Edwards also is known for directing another massive dinosaur film in 2014’s Godzilla and 2016’s Star Wars: Rogue One. David Koepp has returned to the franchise to pen the new screenplay, while Steven Spielberg will produce once again.

Jurassic World 4 is slated to hit theaters on July 2nd, 2025
