The Multiverse Saga is currently in full force in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, culminating in 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars. We have learned that Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has used this Phase of films to “connect” past/legacy Marvel Entertainment films of the last two decades into the larger MCU. With the Sacred Timeline broken in Loki season 1, that allowed us to see different Peter Parker variants appear in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. The variants were played again by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield and included villains from their Sony films.
Next, Deadpool 3 was put into production and saw the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine alongside Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds. The film is slated for next year and is rumored to include cameos from various Fox-era actors from past X-Men, Daredevil, and Fantastic Four films. Unfortunately, due to the studio’s inability to agree to the WGA and SAG guilds for fair compensation, two strikes have halted all productions in Hollywood, including Deadpool 3.
According to a recent rumor, Kevin Feige has contacted past Marvel actors about the Avengers: Secret Wars film. The film is rumored to have many past Marvel Legacy characters as they come together to save the MCU and reestablish the Sacred Timeline. Two actors fans have wanted to interact since the early 2000s include Hugh Jackman and Tobey Maguire (as well as Andrew Garfield) as the original Wolverine and Spider-Man. The rumor states that Feige contacted the actors before the SAG strike about the mega-crossover film. It’s unknown if they will share a scene, but it’s hard to imagine they wouldn’t. Michael Waldron (Doctor Strange 2) was hard at work developing the script since last year but has since stopped due to the strikes. However, due to Feige already reaching out to previous actors, it’s possible a draft has already been submitted to the studio. No director has been attached yet to the film though many have been rumored.
