Today, during Star Wars: Celebration in London, England, Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy announced that sequel-trilogy star Daisy Ridley will return to the Star Wars universe as Rey. It’s unknown how large a role Rey will have in the film as it’s still expected to introduce new heroes from across the galaxy. This comes from speculation that the Damon Lindeolf script would be set after The Rise of Skywalker.

Ms. Marvel director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will direct the untitled film. Recently, Lindolf exited the project over creative differences, but writer Steven Knight took over to polish the script. Production is expected to begin sometime in early 2024.
