Back in 2020, DC Comics put into early development both Zatanna and Batman Beyond to become feature films. Batman Beyond became a cult classic in the 1990s after the success of Batman: The Animated Series. It featured an old Bruce Wayne voiced by Kevin Conroy and a younger Terry McGinnis as the Caped Crusered protecting New Gotham.

At the time, DC was looking to integrate Michael Keaton from the 1989 Batman film into the current DCU. He was expected to appear in Batgirl and The Flash before both appearances were scrapped. Another idea was to have Keaton return for a Batman Beyond film with director Tim Burton. After Birds of Prey and The Flash screenplays, Christina Hodson was also tasked to pen the script. However, that idea has since died under the new reconstruction under DC Studios heads Peter Safran and James Gunn. It’s unknown if a Batman Beyond film will ever formulate as the animated series ended over 20 years.
