Today, The Hollywood Reporter revealed in a report that work on Damon Lindelof began earlier this summer after Star Wars Celebration. A writer’s room was assembled that featured Patrick Somerville (Station Eleven), Rayna McClendon (Willow), Andy Greenwald (Briarpatch), and Dave Filloni alongside co-writer Justin Britt-Gibson to plan out the new film. The report states the film will take place after the events of The Rise of Skywalker but not about the Skywalker storyline that spanned three decades. The report does say, however characters from the 2010 sequel trilogy could appear in the film, which included Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), or Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac). It’s unknown but speculated the movie could feature a time jump into the future when Rey is finally a Jedi master. Director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel) was recently announced to helm the project for Lindelof.
