Today, the finale of the Hawkeye Disney+ series was made available to stream everywhere. While the show introduced us to many new characters like Echo, Kate Bishop, and the return of The Kingpin. The finale actually gave us the origin of Laura Barton (played by Linda Cardellini). Several episodes ago, Laura tasked Clint with finding a secret Rolex watch sold on the black market. It was detrimental that he got it back to keep a former agent’s life still a secret.

:: Spoilers Ahead ::

The finale revealed that Clint did indeed retrieve the Rolex watch for Laura. When Laura flipped it over, it had the S.H.I.E.L.D logo with the number 19 engraved onto it. Revealing that Laura Barton was Agent 19 before the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. In the comics, Mockingbird (wife of Hawkeye) was also known as Agent 19, but her real name was Bobbi Morse. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, many fans wondered why director Joss Whedon changed Clint’s relationship to have a wife named Laura. It seems the MCU has retconned this original story idea to make her indeed the MCU’s version of Mockingbird just now retired. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D went on to introduce Bobbi Morse (played by Adrianne Palicki) on ABC. However, she also had no romantic connection to Hawkeye but instead was divorced from mercenary Lance Hunter. It’s unknown if Agent 19 is a mantle that was passed from Laura Barton to Bobbi Morse or if they are one and the same in the MCU.
