Today, Deadline announced that Ryan Gosling has (re)entered final negotiations to star as Ken in Warner Brothers’ upcoming Barbie feature film. The actor initially passed on the role; however, pre-production has taken longer than expected, and his schedule has opened up. Margot Robbie has been attached to star in the title role for several years and produced the film.
Little Women director Greta Gerwig has been tapped to direct and co-write the film alongside Noah Baumbach. It’s unknown if the film will be a serious drama based on the little girl’s doll or lighter in tone like the Toy Story films. Production is still expected to begin in early 2022.
