Amazon’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ TV Series Will Debut Fall 2022

Today, Amazon Prime announced that their long-awaited Lord of the Rings series will debut on September 2nd, 2022. The show has been in production off-and-on since the COVID pandemic began in 2020. The series is expected to take place during The Second Age of Middle-Earth before the fall of Numenor. The massive ensemble cast has been announced throughout 2021 but their character names are being kept under wraps. It is however expected that Galadriel, Elrond, Celebrimbor, and Sauron to make appearances in the show. JD Payne and Patrick McKay will showrun the project with directors J.A. Bayona and Charlotte Brändström helping direct.
