Today, Deadline announced that the original Ghost in the Shell anime director Kenji Kamiyama has partnered with New Line Cinema to develop a Lord of the Rings anime. The feature film will be titled War of the Rohirrim and follow Rohan’s great king Helm Hammerhand building Helm’s Deep. The project is being fast-tracked by the studio with the animation team at Sola Entertainment.

The film will bring back Return of the King co-scribe Philippa Boyens to consult on the film. It’s expected to be a prequel to Peter Jackson’s live-action saga.
