Timothee Chalamet Will Star As Young ‘Willy Wonka’ For Warner Brothers

Today, Variety announced that Oscar-nominated actor Timothee Chalamet has been cast by Warner Brothers in a Willy Wonka prequel. The actor has made some serious buzz since starring in 2017’s Call Me By My Name and 2019’s Little Women. He will star later this year in the massive space adaption of Dune. The film is expected to be a prequel to the original Willy Wonka film of the 1970’s played by Gene Wilder. The studio almost considered Donald Glover and a gender-swapped Kate Mckinnon for the role of Wonka. Paddington director Paul King will helm the project; with a script by Simon Rich.
