Director Rob Zombie Will Helm ‘The Munsters’ Reboot For Universal Pictures

Rob Zombie The Munsters Banner1

Over the years horror director Rob Zombie has stated he grew up watching The Munsters on television. Watching each episode of the classic family-friendly horror show “at least 17 times” while speaking on The Howard Stern Show. Now the House of 1000 Corpses & Halloween director will finally get to helm a rebooted film for Universal Pictures according to Murphy’s Multiverse.

It’s an odd choice to pick a director with such a graphic horror background to helm a friendly-family film. However, The Green Inferno horror director Eli Roth was able to dial it back and direct The House with a Clock in Its Walls with great success. Jeff Daniel Phillips will play Herman Munster with Zombie’s wife Sheri Moon Zombie set to play Lily Munster. Production begins in Budapest in early May.
