Last month Geeks World Wide revealed that Alfred Molina had entered talks to return as Doc Ock in Marvel Studios Spider-Man 3. At Knight Edge Media, we wrote up an entire Editorial (HERE) that features all of the current Spider-Man 3 rumors, which would include actors from both the Raimi Spider-Man Universe and Amazing Spider-Man Universe crossing over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Today, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Alfred Molina has indeed returned as Doc Ock for the upcoming sequel. As many know, he saved Peter Parker and New York after pulling the Fusion Reactor down to the bottom of the Hudson River in Spider-Man 2. It is assumed he had died, but it was never shown on-screen exactly what happened. A recent fan theory indicates that he could have been pulled into the Marvel Multiverse through the fusion reaction, which would retcon his demise in Spider-Man 2. The same could explain Electro (played again by Jamie Foxx), who was sucked into New York’s grid during The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Never specifically dying on screen for audiences to see.

Later today, Collider revealed that Andrew Garfield has indeed signed onto reprise the role of Peter Parker from the Amazing Universe. They also mention that Kristin Dunst will be returning as classic MJ for the newest film. Finally, they mention that Tobey Maguire is still in talks to return as Peter Parker from the Raimi universe. As well as Emma Stone returning as Gwen Stacy. Stone is currently pregnant but is still expected to sign on. It’s unknown what universe Gwen Stacy will be from given she died in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Fans speculate she could be from Earth-65 as Spider-Gwen who’s alive but doesn’t know Andrew Garfield’s, Peter Parker. As his version of Peter Parker watched her die.

Production is currently happening now in Atlanta. Director Jon Watts has returned to helm the massive sequel. The film is still set to star Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Marisa Tomei. As well as Benedict Cumberbatch returning as Doctor Strange.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 is slated to hit theaters December 17th, 2021
