‘Fanboys’ Writer Adam F. Goldberg Meeting With Director Kyle Newman About a Sequel Revolving Around “The Snyder Cut”

Fanboys Banner1

Over the past few days, it was revealed on Twitter that 2009’s Fanboys writer Adam F. Goldberg shows interested in writing a sequel to his Star Wars road trip movie. The original film revolved around a group of friends who learn one of them has a terminal illness and won’t be able to make it to the premiere of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. So they decided to break into Skywalker Ranch to steal a copy of the film before it is revealed. The film was filmed with many famous actors cameos including Jason Mewes, Kevin Smith, Danny McBride, Seth Rogen, Billy Dee Williams, Carrie Fisher, and William Shatner. Geroge Lucas himself was so flattered by the idea of the film he allowed the creators to use the official sound effects from the films in the movie.

Now over a decade later it Adam F. Goldberg reveals he will be meeting with director Kyle Newman to write a follow-up. This time it will involve stealing the infamous Snyder Cut of 2017’s Justice League. That is a supposed secret cut of the film director Zack Snyder claims exists on the film before he departed from the project due to his daughter passing away. After which Joss Weedon came aboard and reshot most of the film to be released. It’s unknown if the original stars of the film including Kristen Bell, Sam Huntington, Jay Baruchel, or Dan Fogler will return for the film. Chris Marquette character Linus is the friend with terminal illness and passes away in the first movie.

It will be interesting if this type of “raunchy teen roadtrip movie” like EuroTrip or American Pie 5 would even be picked up by a studio given this genre of comedy has all but died out in the past 10 years…
