‘Legion’ & ‘Fargo’ Creator Noah Hawley Set To Direct ‘Star Trek 4’

Today, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Legion and Fargo creator Noah Hawley has boarded Paramount’s upcoming Star Trek sequel. Initially, up-and-coming director S.J. Clarkson was attached to the film but has since left the project. This would have seen the first female director tackle a Star Trek film. It would have also used time-travel to introduce Geroge Kirk (Chris Hemsworth) to meet his adult son James T. Kirk (Chris Pine). However, talks fell through last summer between the actors and the story was shelved.

This iteration is expected to be a new story but still takes place after the events of Star Trek Beyond. With all the original cast returning including Chris Pine as Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Zoe Saldana as Uhura and Karl Urban as Doctor McCoy. It should be noted that Quentin Tarintino is still working on his own Star Trek film since being announced 2 years ago.

Star Trek 4 has no set release date
