Today, Variety announced that Little Women star Jonah Hauer-King has been cast as Prince Eric in Disney’s The Little Mermaid live-action remake. The search for the studios Prince Eric was long and hard; even considering singer Harry Styles for the role at one point. However, it was Hauer-King that had multiple screen tests with director Rob Marshall that landed him the gig alongside Halle Bailey as Ariel. Melissa McCarthy will play the evil Ursula with Javier Bardem playing King Triton. And Daveed Diggs playing Sebastian. Filming is expected to begin in early 2020.
