Director James Cameron has already completed filming on Avatar 3 and some of Avatar 4, with pickup shots on Avatar 3 planned for later this year. The director recently stated that all five upcoming Avatar films have been entirely written. Now, he has revealed that he already has ideas for Avatar 6 and Avatar 7 but admits another director may need to take over by then:

“We’re fully written through movie five, and I’ve got ideas for six and seven, although I’ll probably be handing the baton on at that point. I mean, mortality catches up. But I mean, we’re enjoying what we’re doing. We’re loving it. We get to work with great people.”
