Today, The Hollywood Reporter announced that screenwriter and playwright Ana Nogueira has been tapped to pen DC Studios’ upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The film was originally announced in January with the current slate of DC films. Ironically, she was secretly hired by the prior regime at Warner Brothers to write a Supergirl spin-off film of The Flash that would star Sasha Calle.

However, this version will align with James Gunn and Peter Safran’s vision for a rebooted DC Universe, including a recast of Kara Zor-el. Many fans began speculating WB could hire director Greta Gerwig (Little Women) for Supergirl following her massive success with Barbie. However, the director is hard at work writing the upcoming Chronicles of Narnia films for Netflix. If the studio is willing to wait, it’s possible she could do Supergirl after Narnia.
