‘Twilight’ Reboot TV Series Enters Early Development For Lionsgate

Today, The Hollywood Reporter announced that the massively successful Twilight saga will be completely rebooted for television. Lionsgate currently holds the rights to the vampire book series by author Stephenie Meyer after Paramount Pictures passed. Screenwriter Sinead Daly is attached to the series, but Meyer is expected to be a consultant on the show. Also, Lionsgate will try to shop around the series to multiple streaming services before it gets made.

The original films were a staple of the young adult film series craze of the early 2000s alongside Harry Potter and The Hunger Games and starred newcomers Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner. The film series grossed over $3 billion at the worldwide box office it’s hard to understand why a TV series could do any better. Though this news comes only a week after WB announced a Harry Potter reboot series was in the works too.
