Today, HBO announced that it has renewed The Last Of Us live-action series for a second season. Co-showrunner Craig Mazin and original video game director Neil Druckmann are expected to return for the second season, which will follow the second video game in the two-part series. “Craig and Neil, alongside EP Carolyn Strauss and the rest of our phenomenal cast and crew, have defined a genre with their masterful debut season of ‘The Last of Us. After pulling off this unforgettable first season, I can’t wait to watch this team outshine themselves again with season two.” said HBO executive vice president of original series programming Francesca Orsi.
Neil Druckmann adds in a statement, “I’m humbled, honored, and frankly overwhelmed that so many people have tuned in and connected with our retelling of Joel and Ellie’s journey. The collaboration with Craig Mazin, our incredible cast & crew, and HBO exceeded my already high expectations. Now we have the absolute pleasure of being able to do it again with season two! On behalf of everyone at Naughty Dog & PlayStation, thank you!” It’s unknown if Bella Ramsey will return to the role of Ellie Williams as the game time jumps into the future when the character is older.
