Today, Netflix released The Adam Project on the streaming service. The second collaboration between director Shawn Levy and star Ryan Reynolds after last summer’s Free Guy. During the press tours for The Adam Project, Levy revealed he has five more untitled projects in development with Ryan Reynolds. Many assumed that one of the projects could be the long in development Deadpool sequel.

Today, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Shawn Levy has come on board to helm the project with Ryan Reynolds. He will be the third director of the franchise after Tim Miller (Terminator: Dark Fate) and David Leitch (Atomic Blonde). Typically, Levy’s projects are kid-friendly, like Stranger Things, so it will be interesting to see how he does in an R-rated film. In November 2020, The Molyneux Sisters penned the script but Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have returned to take over writing duties. This will also mark the first “X-Men” entry film set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
