Sofia Boutella Will Lead Zack Snyder’s ‘Rebel Moon’ For Netflix

Today, The Hollywood Reporter announced that actress Sofia Boutella will star in Zack Snyder’s upcoming sci-fi epic Rebel Moon. She is best known for her roles in The Kingsman, The Mummy, and recently Atomic Blonde. Snyder developed a Star Wars film for Lucasfilm but has since rewritten it to be an original film on Netflix.

“When a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius, they dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them take a stand.”

Army of the Dead screenwriters’ Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad returned to help pen the script with Snyder. Deborah Snyder will produce the project under her banner Quarry Productions. Production begins in early 2022.
