Today, a report announced that longtime Marvel Studios screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers joined the team to pen Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. The duo wrote all the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man films at Marvel Studios, including the most recent Spider-Man: Brand New Day. However, they were forced to leave early to help on both Avengers films, so Challengers writer Justin Kuritzkes came in to touch up Brand New Day during production. It should be noted that the original Avengers writer, Stephen McFeely, first came up with a Doomsday script, while Michael Waldron was brought in to pen Secret Wars. The duo simply stated, “We’re happy to say we are involved with the Avengers. We can’t really say much more than that. We love working with Marvel, and we have a relationship with the Russos, and it’s a pleasure. It’s a real pleasure.” Avengers: Secret Wars is expected to begin production sometime before the end of the year.
Avengers: Secret Wars will hit theaters on December 17th, 2027
