Today, a report announced that Dave Bautista has entered final talks to take over the role of Kratos in the God of War live-action TV series. This comes after the news that Ryan Hurst would be replaced in the lead role following an on-set injury to his bicep. They had been filming the series in Vancouver since early February before it went on hiatus to find a new Kratos. His on-screen son, Atreus (played by Callum Vinson), will also be recast with a younger actor in an unfortunate turn of events. Bautista has lost a significant amount of weight and muscle mass over the last year; it’ll be interesting to see if he puts any back on for this role. Production will pick back up in another month to refilm their original scenes.

God of War will stream exclusively on Prime Video
