Today, a report announced that actor Patrick Wilson has joined the cast of The Last of Us season 3 for HBO. He is set to play Doctor Jerry Anderson, Abby’s deceased father. A stand-in was used when the character appeared in the first two seasons via flashbacks and was killed by Joel (played by Pedro Pascal) in the season 1 finale.
Obviously, all his scenes will be flashbacks alongside Abby (played by Kaitlyn Dever). Jason Ritter has also joined the cast for season 3 as Hanley, a WLF soldier. Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, and Spencer Lord have been promoted to series regulars. Danny Ramriez has been recast as Manny by Jorge Lendeborg Jr. due to his commitments to The Avengers: Secret Wars. Production is currently underway back in Vancouver under the working title Calm Current.
The Last of Us will return to HBO and HBO Max sometime in 2027
