Today, a report announced that DC Studios’ upcoming Superman sequel will finally feature the villain Branaic. The character has long been rumored for a live-action Superman movie, dating back to 2013’s Man of Steel. However, when director James Gunn announced his Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, it featured a small easter egg brain. Now, it has been confirmed that the villain will indeed be Brainiac. It’s unknown how Supergirl will feature in the film, as her parents and the Kryptonian city of Kandor are known to be hidden on the Braniac ship in the comics. Many fans have fancast Chukwudi Iwuji (Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Peacemaker) in the role. Production on the sequel begins next year.

Man of Tomorrow is slated to hit theaters on July 9th, 2027
