Nintendo and Illumination Announces ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’

Universal Pictures, alongside Illumination, announced the sequel title to The Super Mario Movie.

Today, during a Special Nintendo First Look streaming event, Universal Pictures, alongside Illumination, announced the sequel title to The Super Mario Movie. The upcoming animated sequel has been titled The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The movie was actually leaked a day prior to copyright listings under the same title. The original film grossed over $1.36 billion worldwide, even with a 59% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, Seth Rogen, Keegan-Michael Key, and Jack Black are all expected to reprise their roles.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is slated to hit theaters in April 2026
