HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ TV Series Begins Production Today

Warner Bros. and HBO announced that filming has begun on their Harry Potter TV series in Leavesden, UK.

Today, Warner Bros. and HBO announced that filming has begun on their Harry Potter TV series in Leavesden, UK. The reboot series was announced in 2023 by Warner Bros. for their HBO Max streaming platform. After an exhausting open casting call for the three heroes, Harry, Ron, and Hermione, the studio cast British newcomers Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout, and Arabella Stanton. They join the adult cast of John Lithgow as Professor Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Professor Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. Each season will cover a different book in the Wizarding World saga, starting with The Sorcerer’s Stone. Francesca Gardiner will showrun the series alongside director Mark Mylod.

Harry Potter will debut exclusively on HBO and HBO Max sometime in 2027
