While speaking with TIME Magazine, Ryan Reynolds has teased that he is writing a new Deadpool project as an “ensemble” movie. It’s unknown what the project could be, but after doing three previous films, Reynolds has admitted that Deadpool “works best as a supporting character.” Which makes many assume that he doesn’t see Deadpool ever appearing in any future Avengers or X-Men films, which is honestly for the best. The character works best when he has his own story, in his corner of the MCU. Ryenolds finally states, “…if Deadpool ever becomes an X-Men or Avenger, it’s the end.” As the character tried becoming an X-Man in Deadpool 2 and an Avenger in Deadpool & Wolverine, this makes a lot of sense.
We at Knight Edge Media had heard back in 2020 that Marvel Studios was considering some Alpha Flight project that never ultimately went anywhere. It’s possible that Reynolds ultimately does this X-Men-adjacent project with Deadpool or another attempt at X-Force. However, as the actor said, he tried pitching 20 different Deadpool 3 stories to Kevin Feige, which were all ultimately shot down. It’s unknown if fellow Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will return for this new project.
Deadpool & Wolverine is streaming now on Disney+
