Today, a report has announced that actress Emma Mackey has landed the lead villain role in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Chronicles of Narnia feature film. Mackey is best known for her roles in Netflix’s Sex Education, Death on the Nile, and 2023’s Barbie. The report reveals she will play a young Jadis, The White Witch, from the realm of Charn. Singer Charli XCX and actress Margaret Qualley were also in the running for the role. Tilda Swinton played the role in the original Disney films.
We at Knight Edge Media confirmed that the film will indeed be an adaptation of The Magician’s Nephew and about the creation of Narnia. This also includes how the White Witch initially took over Narnia before the events of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Casting is still underway for the two lead children’s roles of Digory and Polly. Daniel Craig has been rumored for a role, and Meryl Streep as a gender-bent Aslan. Production begins this summer in the UK.
