Expect Avatar Korra To Be Recast in the ‘Avatar: Seven Havens’ TV Series

Last week, Avatar Studios officially announced the sequel series to The Legend of Korra in Avatar: Seven Havens. We at Knight Edge Media have been reporting on this series since December, which follows twin sisters Avatar Pavi and Avatar Nisha. In our previous reporting (and the officially released synopsis), we revealed that a cataclysmic event occurs during the time of Avatar Korra, which reshapes the world into a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

The overarching plot of the new series is precisely what happened to Avatar Korra, which made everyone hate the Avatar in the future. What unstoppable force did she try to stop that unfortunately created collateral damage to the world? Many fans online have assumed that this makes Korra the worst Avatar, but with every expanded story in this universe, we learn that context is everything. When one Avatar fails miserably, trying to do good in their lifetime, the next Avatar must pick up the pieces. This means by the end of the next series, we may learn Korra actually did her best and ultimately gave her life protecting the world leading up to the events of Seven Havens.

Nevertheless, we at Knight Edge Media also wanted to give the update that there is a very strong possibility that Avatar Korra will also be recast for the upcoming series. Since following the events of Legend of Korra, only Pavi/Nisha can speak to Korra as a past life, not any other Avatar. Many fans might think that original voice actress Janet Varney will simply reprise her role as Korra for the series since she still co-hosts the Braving the Elements podcast for Avatar Studios. The actress has repeatedly revealed that she would like an Indigenous actress to voice the character.

We revealed back in 2022 that the upcoming Avatar Aang movie would recast every original actor with ethnically diverse voice actors. Eventually, that was confirmed when Eric Nam, Jessica Matten, Román Zaragoza, and Dionne Quan were announced at CinemaCon 2024. While not confirmed just yet, it seems Avatar Studios is adamant about recasting accurate voice actors in these roles, including Avatar Korra. Hopefully, Korra only makes an appearance in the show and doesn’t have a significant role as Pavi/Nisha still needs to learn how to contact their past life throughout the story.

Avatar: Seven Havens will stream exclusively on Paramount+
