Today, on the eve of the 20th Anniversary of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Avatar Studios has officially announced Avatar: Seven Havens, the sequel TV series for Paramount+. We at Knight Edge Media have already provided extensive coverage of the upcoming series, which follows the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. The announcement confirms our scoop that the series will be 26 episodes long and be split into two 13-episode seasons. The announcement confirms that the series will follow the next Avatar in the cycle, born an Earth Bender. The series will be executive produced by original creators Mike DiMartino and Bryan Konitezko, alongside Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi (which we revealed on Twitter.)

“A world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra – but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.”

Mike and Bryan said in a statement, “When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later, This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters. Get ready to take another epic and emotional adventure!”

As in our previous coverage, the series actually follows two 9-year-old twin Avatars named Pavi and Nisha, who are separated at birth. Both can bend all four elements and enter the Avatar State. They will have their own Team Avatar with an Airbender teen named Jae and an adult named Captain Karthik. The show’s overarching plot is how we got our first twin Avatars. Why do the four nations no longer exist? Why are there energy storms and abandoned wastelands in a post-apocalyptic world? What happened to Avatar Korra beforehand? And finally, do both possess the spirit of Raava, or does one have the evil spirit of Vaatu? We also recently revealed the upcoming leaked slate of projects coming from Avatar Studios, including a still unannounced Airbender series and three previously announced theatrical films.
