Today, a report has revealed that The Russo Brothers will not be filming Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars back-to-back as they did with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. As previously reported, Avengers: Doomsday will begin filming in Spring 2025 and be released on May 1st, 2026. Meanwhile, Avengers: Secret Wars will begin filming in Spring 2026 on May 7th, 2027. The reason is that Marvel Studios expects to film Spider-Man 4 between both Avengers films sometime in Fall 2026. However, the Russo’s don’t directly mention this during their NYCC interview. Though, The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Spider-Man 4 will film next year and Holland boarding Christopher Nolan’s next film.

This means that star Tom Holland will have a hectic two straight years filming all three films as Peter Parker alongside the return of Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. The duo directors are also hard at work developing both scripts with screenwriter Stephen McFeely after his time on the last two Avenger films. He takes over from Jeff Loveness, who wrote The Kang Dynasty, and Michael Waldron, who wrote a version of Secret Wars. His writing partner, Christopher Markus, did not return for an unknown reason. The two also decided to film both films in IMAX.

Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars hit theaters on May 1st, 2026 & May 7th, 2027
