After over a year of speculation regarding the state of Spider-Man 4, a new report has announced that Destin Daniel Cretton has entered final talks to helm the sequel. The director has been hard at work working on Shang-Chi 2 for Marvel Studios after exiting Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (now titled Avengers: Doomsday). The director is also attached to write and direct a Naruto live-action movie. It’s unknown how this film will affect either of those getting made, but it is expected to begin production in early 2025.

Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are again returning to pen the script for fans to witness the fallout of everyone in the MCU, forgetting Peter Parker is Spider-Man. There have been rumors that Sony Pictures wanted to push for a more multiversal plot in the next film, while Marvel Studios wanted to make the movie more grounded. Many fans hope street heroes like Daredevil (played again by Charlie Cox) appear alongside Spider-Man against villains like The Kingpin while Peter Parker attends college. However, it is still unknown what the plot will be moving forward. The report finally mentions that Tom Holland and Zendaya have yet to sign on officially but are expected to, which means MJ may regain her memory in the sequel.
