Today, a report has revealed that director James Wan is being considered to helm a Creature From The Black Lagoon remake for Universal Pictures. Wan is recently known for directing both Aquaman films starring Jason Momoa but is best known for his horror films, such as Saw, Insidious, and The Conjuring. This will be the first film produced under his Atomic Monster and Blumhouse Productions merger.

The film was originally part of Unverisal’s classic monster genre, which included Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Wolf Man. A remake was once in development when the studio tried launching their Dark Universe, but it was canceled after The Mummy bombed at the box office in 2017. This version will be a modern take on the character with some horror elements, much like 2020’s The Invisible Man.
