Today, a report has revealed that a semi-sequel to the popular young adult series The Maze Runner is developing at 20th Century Studios. The film is being described as a “reboot” as it won’t be a direct sequel to the original films of the early 2010s starring Dylan O’Brien and Kaya Scodelario but a callback to those events, much like Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is to the Reeves trilogy. Screenwriter Jack Paglen has boarded the project to pen the script. He is best known for writing the sci-fi film Transcendence. Original director Wes Ball will return to produce the upcoming film, as he is still attached to work on The Legend of Zelda.

Untitled Maze Runner Sequel has no set release date
