Today, a report has announced that screenwriter and director Simon Kinberg has boarded the upcoming Star Trek origin film from Paramount Pictures as a producer. He is best known for writing multiple X-Men films and producing 2015’s The Fantastic Four. The film was expected to be a prequel to J.J. Abrams’s 2009 film set in the Kelvin timeline. However, now it sounds like it could be set in a different timeline that is not associated with the J.J. Abrams films at all. Kinberg is looking to make a move on the Star Trek universe by overseeing all feature films as we advance. Much like how Alex Kurtzman is overseeing all the streaming shows on Paramount+. However, it is not yet confirmed how many movies Kinberg will be producing in the future.
