Wendell Pierce Joins James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ as Perry White

Today, more castings have been announced as production continued on James Gunn’s Superman reboot. According to a recent report, Wendell Pierce has joined the cast of the ensemble film. He will play Perry White, the tough-as-nails editor at the Daily Planet. Laurence Fishburne recently portrayed the role in the Zack Snyder films of the early 2010s.

Pierce is best known for his role on The Wire but recently gained acclaim on Amazon’s Jack Ryan, which wrapped up its final season late last year. He joins David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Skyler Gisondo as fellow reporters Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Jimmy Olsen.

Superman is slated to hit theaters on July 11th, 2025
