Geraldine Viswanathan Replaces Ayo Edebiri in Marvel Studios ‘Thunderbolts’

Last year, The Bear breakout star Ayo Edebiri was announced to be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a minor role. She would join the Thunderbolts cast as an assistant to Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus). However, due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, the film’s production was pushed a full year. Now that The Bear has renewed for another season on FX, Edebiri will have to step away from her MCU role. Actress Geraldine Viswanathan will be taking over for the role moving forward. The production push also forced Steven Yeun to step away and be replaced by actor Lewis Pullman. Hopefully, Edebiri and Yeun can return for a more substantial role in the MCU.

Thunderbolts hits theaters on July 25th, 2025
