Daredevil: Born Again had a complete rehaul of its creative team following the end of the WGA Writers Strike last summer. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige reviewed the footage shot in the fall and simply wasn’t happy with the show’s direction. It was less gritty like the original Netflix series and more in line with courtroom dramas like Suits or Law & Order. A major change came with the off-screen killings of main characters Foggy Nelson (played by Elden Henson) and Karen Page (played by Deborah Ann Woll). After their off-screen deaths, Matt Murdock (played by Charlie Cox) practically hangs up his time as Daredevil and focuses on court cases. Something fans of Daredevil would have expressed extreme distaste for on social media by killing off two major characters.
Jeff Sneider has revealed in his latest newsletter that both Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll will return following the show’s rewrite. Six of the nine episodes that were shot will be kept for the first half of the season. However, they will rewrite and reshoot the pilot episode to have Foggy and Karen alive again. It’s unknown how large a role they will have moving forward with their planned 18-episode season. The series will still follow The Kingpin (played by Vincent D’Onofrio) as he is now mayor of New York. We at Knight Edge Media have learned that this decision was only made a week ago before production starts back up again in New York.
Daredevil: Born Again is still slated to hit Disney+ sometime in late 2025
