Today, Deadline announced that actor Sean Gunn has landed the role of Maxwell Lord in the newly created DC Universe. He has appeared in his brother’s previous films, including the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. The character appeared in Wonder Woman 1987 as Maximillion Lord, played by Pedro Pascal. In other news, Gunn is still hard at work looking to cast Superman’s cousin, Kara Zor-el (via Daniel Ritchman Patreon). The character recently appeared in The Flash movie, played by Sasha Calle. However, with the rebooted universe, she will be recast with a new actress. The actress will also appear in the spin-off film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Ana Nogueira was hired to pen the script with director Greta Gerwig, a fan-favorite, to helm the project.

Superman: Legacy is slated to hit theaters on July 11, 2025
